Make an Internet Meme

Text reading, 'Your toxic ex texting you at 1:53 AM on a Tuesday' ovelaid on the photo of a chemical tanker truck in traffic, with a decal on its rear reading: 'NO DISTRACTIONS. ME AND YOU.
I was directed to create a meme for a Digital and Multimedia Writing course this week. I must say that the course has, already, led me to better appreiciation of memes as a multimodal artform. At any rate, I wanted to use a photo I had taken, and so I went through my camera roll for a good half hour (I really need to delete about 4000 photos) before I found this one. I remember taking this photo because I found the phraseology so bizarre--who puts that on the back of a tanker? The meme itself is self-explanatory, and it's a tried and true format, so I know it's not exactly creative or inventive. Most all of us have experienced this kind of situation with an ex or someone from our past, and I'm sure most all of us have come across this kind of meme format at one point or another. I just thought the text lent itself perfectly to this big dangerous chemical tanker and its out of pocket decal.

  1. This is a really clever use of your own photography to create a relatable meme. I love how you connected the unexpected decal on the tanker to the humor of the text. It shows a great eye for finding humor in everyday situations and demonstrates how multimodal elements can work together to make a point.
